During our recent visit to Turkey one of the places that Ellie wanted to see was Ephesus.

To be absolutely honest, I was not that bothered because I thought if you have seen one ampitheatre you have seen them all  and we don’t live that far from Chester ha!

But given that we were there to celebrate Ellie’s birthday, I went along for the ride.

It was an interesting ride too because our taxi driver spoke very little english and our turkish isn’t the best.

He brought us all a mandarin orange from his garden – so he was a big hit with us.

Ephesus is an archaeological site dating from the time of the Romans.

Unlike historic sites in England, visitors to Ephesus are actively encouraged to walk within the ruins.

We were amazed by how much was left of the library and you could walk through it.

It was pretty amazing.

I bet it looks spectacular at night when it is lit up.

The library also provided plenty of great places for a photo opportunity, like this totally natural shot ha!

It was a lovely place to visit.

I am so glad that I agreed to go.
