Breakfast on the go!

I was not going to do a My Captured Moment this week because it is bedlam around here just now. However, Heledd has just tweeted that this is the last time for this lovely link up. So after a frantic delve in my drop box, I have unearthed this picture from a past Christmas morning. This is the picture that Himself always says is his favorite. Evie having her breakfast on the go. Thank.. Read More

Leaving a Mince Pie for Santa

My Captured Moment (2)

My Captured Moment this week is from Christmas Eve 2004. Evie was at that magical age when she was just beginning to understand that something special was happening. In this picture, she has her new pajamas and slippers on, the fairies will have left them under the tree earlier in the day. Her hair is still damp from her bath “for Father Christmas”. She has left the mince pie and diet coke for.. Read More

Evie’s Special Night

Our internet connection at home has been a nightmare this week. It seems that the wind and the rain has left us hanging, so to speak. We changed provider just over a year ago, but it appears to be worse than ever. Therefore, please accept my apologies for radio silence on here and twitter, I will catch up as soon as I can. In other news, it has been a very special week.. Read More

Alice and Evie

When we visited New York recently, Evie’s only real request was to find the Alice In Wonderland statue in Central Park. I think it is obvious from her face that she loved it. Given that we live so near to Lewis Carroll’s birthplace, we decided that we really ought to visit there too. We finally paid a visit this weekend. Lewis Carroll lived in Daresbury, Cheshire from his birth in 1832 until 1843.. Read More

The Counsellor!

My Captured Moment this week comes from the Friday before last.  Evie has been chosen by her classmates to represent them. Then the rest of the year elected her and her friend, to sit on the school council on their behalf. She is delighted and so are we. I have mentioned before that the last school year was a difficult  one for her. This time last year, I am sure that she would not have even considered.. Read More

The Lipstick chooses the girl!

Evie and I were  delighted to be invited to The Body Shop in Birkenhead on Saturday morning. I have long admired their philosophies, especially the fact that they do not test any products on animals. As a fully fledged vegetarians this is really important to both of us. Periodically, I pop into a store for nail files, lip balm and Peppermint Foot lotion, you know those ‘must-haves’. However, it had been a while.. Read More

It is raining Mummy!

My Captured

August 2004 Hi Ellie, Look at this picture that I have found! Now I know I am not going to get any mum points for this, but I think I come out of this story much worse than you girls. Do you remember we went to York for a stay cation and had a lovely time? But it was a typical British summer weather wise, and as we walked towards the Castle Museum,.. Read More

A girl, A bike & A dog!

Dear Ellie, As you know, we are planing to take part in the ‘Pedal ‘n’ Picnic’ event next Saturday. It is apparent that we all need some practice. On Friday evening, we dusted off our bikes and off we went. We literally had to wash them, they were filthy. Afterwards, Evie was on her bike in the Glade and when Jack came over it looked as though he was posing. I whipped out my phone and.. Read More

Meeting Scarecrows

Dear Ellie, This weekend, we went to the Hoylake Allotments open day. It was english eccentricity at its very best. We loved it! The allotments were full of beautiful fruits, flowers and tons of vegetables. But it was the Scarecrows that were our favourites. Evie made friends with lots of them. This big man greeted everyone as they made their way to the gardens, he had great mutton chops. There were little cute.. Read More

Let summer begin!

Hi Ellie, How are you surviving the heat wave in New York? I understand it is called the summer dome, I hope you have not lost too many campers to the local hospital this week. This is the last Five On Friday for the summer, that means that we will see you in four weeks – yikes. It has been a good week on the Glade with lots to report, so I will.. Read More
